Windows 7 frenzy

Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system has created something of frenzy across the internet.

Downloads of the beta version of Windows 7 were so big that Mircosoft’s server was temporarily unable to cope.

The company had planned to allow 2.5 million downloads of the trial operating system, but demand was so great it has decided not to impose a limit.

Marketed as an upgrade to Windows Vista, Windows 7 has been made available for public download on Microsoft’s official website. But if the reviews are anything to go by, the final product will be a must-have.

A review on techreviewsource.com praises the operating system as a “big step towards having an operating system that has a lot of neat and useful features, but also has rock-solid stability and performance at the same time. When Microsoft releases this beta to the public, there’s no doubt there will be a lot of buzz and I think a lot of praise as well.”

Osnews.com praised the beta version of Windows 7 as “being better than the final release of Windows Vista”.

Adrian Kingsley-Hughes from ZDnet.com says Microsoft has put a lot of effort into the system. “The OS is solid and fast, and based on what I’ve seen so far I’d have no problems in rolling out beta 1 and using it daily.”
