Apple is on a winner. A project on the MacObserver website tracking the sales of iPhones has calculated the smartphone device has reached over 10 million sales.
When Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the device’s release in January 2007, he said the first goal would be to sell 10 million units during 2008.
MacObserver calculates that over 9.19 million devices have been produced in 2008, but with actual sales the project estimates 10 million units have been purchased since the release of the device.
The project’s next guess is a little more optimistic; 17 million by Christmas.
