BlackBerry has reported a quarterly net income of $US114 million for the fiscal fourth quarter off the back of a million sales of its new Z10 smartphone.
According to TechCrunch, overall revenues for the quarter reached $US2.7 billion, with its new BlackBerry 10 platform accounting for one in six smartphone sales worldwide despite a delayed release in the US market.
However, the news was not all good, with revenues down sharply from $US4.6 billion for the same quarter last year.
There has also been a significant erosion in the company’s overall user base over the past year, with total subscribers falling to 76 million from 79 million a year earlier (when the company was known as Research in Motion) off the back of delays in development of BlackBerry 10.
