Social media games developer Zynga has relaunched its website, with the company now allowing users to play its games without using a Facebook account.
According to Reuters, the move is the latest step in the dissolution of a once-strong business relationship between the FarmVille developer and Facebook.
โYou had to use your Facebook account to play previously, but this is going to change going forward,” says Zynga general manager Tom Catlin.
After growing to prominence off the back of its Facebook content, Zynga filed for a $US7billion IPO in December 2011.
However, by October 2012, the company posted a $US52.7 million quarterly loss, despite a 3.2% increase in sales, following a survey showing US teenagers are tiring of social media gaming.
