How Zeep started
Robin Jerome and Glenn Young have more than 35 years of combined experience in building recruitment companies in Australia, Asia and Europe. They have applied that to a social entrepreneurship project that supplies urgent healthcare to regional, rural and remote Australian communities. This idea came to fruition in 2017 with the founding of Zeep.
Growth
Zeep faced scepticism from the start, with doubters claiming its work could not be done or at least not profitably. The company has proven the naysayers wrong by becoming one of the five largest suppliers of locum and permanent doctors to Australian hospitals, with over 18,000 registered doctors. Zeep has supplier agreements with almost every health district in the country and works with around 200 hospitals, surpassing most of its competition nationwide.
Where to next
The company will continue its commitment to close the healthcare gap not just for medical care but also social care and allied health services with the establishment of Zeep Health. This recruits occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists and behavioural support workers. There are plans to extend its successful model to support other verticals such as dentistry, nursing, aged care, vets and pharmacists. It’s also going international with the launch of Zeep Medical into the UK, servicing the National Health Service. And to support the supply of quality healthcare professionals nationwide, Zeep is opening an immigration arm to help doctors transition into Australia.
