How RESINC Solar started
A social enterprise specialising in residential and small commercial solar installations, RESINC Solar was founded in 2016 with a drive to do solar differently. Founder Leigh Storr recognised the potential environmental and economic impact of a customer-focused approach to renewable energy distribution. As such, RESINC positioned itself as service-first rather than product-first. Today it delivers residential and small business solar infrastructure while reinvesting profits into providing solar infrastructure for community and charity organisations in Australia and overseas.
Growth
RESINC had to differentiate itself in a market saturated with cheap rooftop solar installers. It also found there was a general lack of consumer knowledge about the industry. The company’s pricing at launch saw many customers swayed by lower-cost options. To address this, sales and service teams were trained to showcase what RESINC was offering from a service standpoint. It also educated customers on how proper care and support could maximise their investment, much like high-ticket items such as homes and cars. The company built further credibility by winning awards and accumulating thousands of five-star reviews, proof of its level of service and quality.
Where to next
RESINC’s future aims are threefold: stay at the forefront of the industry, deliver exceptional customer service, and explore new community partnerships. To this end, the company is aligned with cutting-edge research at Griffith University and the CSIRO, enhancing system efficiency and resilience. It has also developed a commercial solar sector enterprise that is Indigenous majority-owned. Its Grant Matching Program, initially for surf lifesaving clubs, has now expanded to include more community organisations, enabling solar installations with zero out-of-pocket costs.
