Brothers David and Jonathan Green were working in sales and managerial roles in the energy and finance industries before taking a leap of faith in 2020 and moving into the booming renewable energy market. Renting out a tiny office space in North Sydney, they founded green energy company Teho, which installed residential solar panels and batteries. In May 2024, they paid $75,000 for a new URL and rebranded Teho to Green.com.au.
The Green brothers built meaningful relationships with suppliers, treating them like employees rather than contractors. The subsequent sense of trust that was created . saw the revenue of Teho, as it was then known, jump from $637,000 in FY2022 to $7.7 million in FY2023 – a growth rate of more than 1000%.
In the 2024 financial year, the rebranded Green.com.au reached $12.5 million in turnover.
This financial year Green.com.au is rolling out its 100% free, whole or market, independent and influence-free energy comparison service with Electricity.com.au, as well as its first full iteration of its virtual power plant and asset management platform.
The company is also adding new product lines aimed at easing every step of its clientele’s renewable energy journey, and is forecasting Green.com.au’s revenue for FY25 to hit $40 million.
