HubSpot co-founder and CTO Dharmesh Shah took the stage at the companyโ€™s Inbound event yesterday after the unveiling of Breeze AI, but made it clear this is only the beginning for AI agents.

During his keynote, Shah painted an ambitious picture of a future where agents not only handle business tasks but also build other agents to expand their capabilities.

“When we look back at this event years from now, you’re going to remember it as the year of AI agents,” Shah said.

Shah is a hands-on CTO, spending a great deal of time on experimental ‘lab’ projects. One of these is what he calls agent.ai, a professional network — almost like a LinkedIn — for AI agents where businesses can hire, collaborate with and even build agents.

“Agent.ai is the number one professional network for AI agents… it is also the only professional network for AI agents,” Shah joked.

He also predicted a future where teams will be hybrid.

โ€œThey will consist of humans and AI agents, working together as digital teammates.โ€

A significant part of his speech also focused on the idea of agents being able to create other agents, a development he believes could mirror the transformative effect of Apple’s app store on the tech ecosystem.

“Their vision was embodied in the phrase, ‘there’s an app for that’. Our vision for the future is ‘there’s an agent for that’ โ€” for every marketing, sales, and customer service use case imaginable, including use cases we can’t even imagine yet,” Shah said.

While HubSpotโ€™s Breeze AI is currently integrated into its CRM to make customer interactions easier, Shah believes this will pave the way for even more sophisticated uses of AI.

“I predict that many of you will be building agents this year, and not just the introverted developers like me. Anyone can build an AI agent,” Shah said.

Shah pushed the idea that while AI agents are still evolving, their potential is vast. His approach hints at a world where businesses will rely heavily on AI to handle simple and complex aspects of daily operations. Though there is still work to be done.
