Apple has signed a 10-year patent cross-licensing agreement with Android smartphone-maker HTC.
According to ComputerWorld, the agreement settles all outstanding patent infringement lawsuits between the two companies, with the companies agreeing to license all current and future smartphone patents to each other over the next decade.
The terms of the deal are confidential and were not disclosed in the official announcements.
“HTC is pleased to have resolved its dispute with Apple, so HTC can focus on innovation instead of litigation,” says HTC CEO Peter Chou.
“We are glad to have reached a settlement with HTC. [Apple] will continue to stay laser-focused on product innovation,” says Apple CEO Tim Cook.
