Google announced last night an update to the Google Play store that will allow Android users to make in-app subscriptions.

The ability has been available on iOS apps for some time now, allowing publishers to send regularly updated content to users without prompting them to pay more than once.

The feature has been used most by media companies, allowing users to buy subscriptions to newspapers and magazines.

โ€œSince the launch, In-app Billing has been extremely successful in helping developers monetise their apps through try-and-buy, virtual goods, upgrades, and other popular business models,โ€ Google said on the developer blog.
