Sony chief executive Howard Stringer has commented the electronics giant is looking at how it can build a next-generation television set.
The comments come after Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was revealed to have possibly been working on such a project before his death.
โThereโs a tremendous amount of R&D going into a different kind of TV set,โ Stringer told the Wall Street Journal. โWe canโt continue selling TV sets [as we currently do]. Every TV set we all make loses money.โ
Stringer also commented that he had โno doubtsโ Jobs was working on such a project, but also noted that โit will take a long time to transition to a new form of televisionโ.
