Internet giant Google says over 300,000 Android gadgets are being activated every day, with the software catching up to Apple’s iOS.
Andy Rubin, engineering vice president at Google, said in a tweet that over 300,000 devices are being activated, a solid increase from just a few months ago when 200,000 gadgets were being activated.
The announcement comes after Google has announced its new smartphone, the Google Nexus S, manufactured by Samsung. It runs on a new version of Android software that allows NFC technology, meaning users can make contactless payments.
This result comes after research firm Gartner has showed that Android smartphones have sold over 20 million units in the past year.
