The database of anti-piracy law firm ACS:Law was leaked last week and posted on popular torrent website, The Pirate Bay.
The company found its email database was available for download after it was accidentally posted online. According to a report from news website Torrent Freak, the database contains information regarding the investigation into ACS by the Solicitorโs Regulatory Authority.
The firm was under investigation for allegedly sending accused file sharers settlement offers so they could avoid court action.
The database apparently appeared online due to the site posting a backup after it was shut down by a denial of service attack by members from the 4Chan message board.
ACS:Law head Andrew Crossley told The Register that the site was only down for a few hours, and noted that the attack was “typical rubbish from pirates”.
