Internet search giant Google has updated its Gmail browser interface for the iPhone and iPad, saying the new design will help users streamline their conversations into a more simplified window.

“In the past, performing actions on selected conversations was awkward. There were two similar toolbars on the screen: one on the bottom left and the other on the top right,โ€ the company said on its blog.

โ€œThe former affected the selected conversations, while the latter affected the currently open conversation. Since the toolbarsโ€™ buttons looked similar, it was easy to mistakenly use the wrong toolbar. Sound confusing? It was.โ€

The new interface allows conversations to be โ€œstackedโ€ on the right-hand side of the screen, while the design mimics the official mail app included on the iOS devices.

โ€œIn the new interface, selected conversations are displayed stacked on the right panel for easy organising, archiving or deleting. The second toolbar is gone so itโ€™s always clear which conversations youโ€™re working with.โ€
