Online marketing professionals are planning to shift more of their resources into e-mail marketing in 2008, according to a Datran Media survey of more than 2000 marketers reported by MediaPost.

According to the survey, 82% of marketers plan to increase their use of email marketing in 2008 and 55% believe the return on investment for email marketing is superior to other forms of email marketing.

Asked which form of advertising provides a strong result for their clients, the marketing professionals surveyed nominated the following marketing tools:

  • Email: 80%.
  • Online display ads: 37.6%.
  • Online search ads: 70.6%
  • Print: 16.5%.
  • Broadcast: 10.6%.
  • Cable: 7.1%.
  • Mobile: 1.2%.
