The Dev Team, one of the most popular teams responsible for creating software that “jailbreaks” iPhones, has updated its product to work with the new iOS4.

The site announced that it has upgraded a previous iOS3 hack to work with the iOS4 software, but there are a number of considerations users need to keep in mind.

Firstly, jailbreaking can void a user’s warranty. Secondly, the software only works for previously jailbroken software, so users who have restored their phones with official iOS software won’t be able to access the updates.

Jailbreaking has become a popular way to access features on the iPhone that aren’t provided through the official Apple software. Users can access some features including custom SMS tones, and can access specific apps that aren’t approved through the App Store.
