Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has denied allegations it has infringed on several of Apple’s patents in the production of its Android-based smartphones.
“HTC is not only an innovator in mobile technology but also an owner of many patents. We take American and international patent rights protection seriously,” the company said in a statement.
“We will closely cooperate with the US justice system in the case to protect our own innovative values and rights.”
Apple has accused the company of infringing several patents related to touchscreen technology and the “user interface, underlying architecture and hardware” of the iPhone.
“We’ve decided to do something about it. We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours,” Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said.
