A new software upgrade from NASA has allowed astronauts to update their Twitter feeds while in service.

The wireless connection has now been established, which will allow the astronauts to access the service themselves. Previously, the astronauts would post tweets to ground control where staff would update their accounts.

Flight engineer T J Creamer posted the first โ€œtweetโ€ last week, when he said: โ€œHello Twitterverse! We r now LIVE tweeting from the International Space Station – the 1st live tweet from Space! ๐Ÿ™‚ More soon, send your ?sโ€.

The Crew Support LAN connection will allow the astronauts to use the internet as well.
