IBM is set for its first major foray into mass-market cloud based services with the launch of LotusLive iNotes, Cnet reports.
The service will include email, calendaring and contact management and can work alone or with an existing email.
“This is big news as an endorsement of cloud computing and hosted applications,” Dave Rosenberg wrote. “The new IBM service isn’t much different than you see from the likes of Google Apps or Yahoo – the big change is that it’s coming from an industry stalwart.”
Over half of the Fortune 100 companies use IBM technology including Lotus Notes, IBM Cloud Collaboration Services vice president Sean Poulley said in a statement.
