I agree with this article in general, however, one’s amount of followers or friends will always correlate to a view of their social media stature and as with most things – bigger is better.

Furthermore, the ‘buying’ of friends or followers does provide the purchaser the opportunity to have their comments viewed by non-purchased/able members of that particular network, hence, jumpstarting their following or friend base of others who may very well be interested in what they have to say.

By contrast if a business were to pay for the entirety (not buying 1,000 followers to start off with but buying hundreds of thousands) of their following then it would almost definitely be a waste of money, time and offer very little commercial gain for the purchaser. The only value would be to the account holder who can look at their substantial friend/following list.
