The New Agency helps its clients by acting as a virtual web platform development team, design team, marketing team or advertising team, with an unwavering focus on start-ups.
“Start-up founders who don’t have geeky friends to code for them still have great ideas,” Jones says.
“We help enable those ideas by supplying great development, design, marketing and strategy at startup-friendly pricing.”
Prior to The New Agency, Jones was a co-founder of Yahoo! Australia and New Zealand, HomeScreen Entertainment, Trippything and Trainerplatform.
He has also advised and/or invested in Bluepulse and BugHerd, and start-ups associated with Pollenizer and Startmate.
“I think the start-ups I invest in and work with appreciate me not for my investments but for the time and experience I give to them in their pre-commercialisation and commercialisation phase,” Jones says.
“I work with start-ups to help them refine their product, business and marketing strategy and then bring together a team of freelance professionals to deliver on that strategy.”
Since The New Agency launched, Jones has worked with a host of start-ups including Anchor.com.au, OtherLevels.com, GoThat, My5.com.au, Foodlog.com.au and GetMeInForm.
“In my free time, I’m on the organising committee of TEDxSydney and the Sydney chapter of the Awesome Foundation Sydney,” he says.
“I’m probably Australia’s smallest start-up angel investor in dollar terms, but I’d like to think I’m one of the most active and engaged, and one of the few ready to give advice with no strings attached.”
So what advice does Jones have for start-ups?
“Keep doing what you’re passionate about and trust your gut instincts,” he says.
