GreenBizCheck is a global technology-based environmental certification program for business.
“We offer environmental certification for offices, retail, IT, food and beverage, clubs, hotels, education and recruitment,” Hall says.
“Our concept helps companies to quickly implement sustainable environmental practices which rapidly increase profits, attract new business, conserve energy, water, resources and minimise waste.”
Companies are provided with a 260-point online assessment, with immediate reporting and action planning.
Points are awarded for compliance and implementation of each element of the assessment. Companies are then given guidance on the necessary steps to achieve certification.
“We also help them market their credentials to win new business and meet supplier and customer standards,” Hall says.
Hall says he and Bernhardt were “normal, active businesspeople” who were concerned about the impact of climate change, and wanted to put their skills, experience and contacts to good use.
“We wanted to create an online, resource-efficient, user-friendly tool. We researched the current technologies available but found nothing that was appropriate,” he says.
“Instead, we had to hire a programmer, research various standards and create our own online bespoke system. This was very time-consuming and costly but the end result is a unique system.”
According to Hall, the best part of starting the business was the excitement that comes with creating a company that is helping to protect and conserve the planet’s natural resources.
“GreenBizCheck is all about helping businesses become more sustainable while also creating significant cost-saving opportunities,” Hall says.
“We practice what we preach and are gold-certified ourselves. We have also undergone ISO14001 certification and been audited by the world’s largest audit and certification body, Bureau Veritas.”
